Money Laundering & Criminal Faction
Summary
Delivering illicit cargo creates an active Criminal Record — the single source of truth for your criminal status. Your record tracks two amounts: a permanent total and a confiscatable amount that decays over time while you are online. Upon arrest, police confiscate your Wanted bounty plus your remaining confiscatable amount, and your Criminal Record is cleared.
1. Illicit Cargo
The following cargo types are considered illicit and trigger criminal mechanics on delivery:
- Money / Money Pallet
- Ganja / Ganja Pallet
- Coca Leaves Pallet
- Cocaine
2. Criminal Record
Your first illicit delivery creates an active Criminal Record and immediately adds the [C] tag to your in-game name. The Criminal Record persists indefinitely — it is only cleared when you are arrested.
Two tracked amounts
Each Criminal Record tracks two separate values:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Total amount | The permanent lifetime sum of all illicit delivery payments linked to this record. Never decreases. Used for criminal level display. |
| Confiscatable amount | Also accumulates with each delivery, but decays over time while you are online. This is the amount at risk of confiscation on arrest. Shown in /wanted. |
Confiscatable amount decay
The confiscatable amount decays exponentially every minute — but only while you are online. Logging off pauses the decay entirely. Amounts below $100 are rounded down to zero.
| Time online | Fraction remaining |
|---|---|
| 0 minutes | 100% |
| 1 hour | ~87% |
| 4 hours | 50% (half-life) |
| 8 hours | 25% |
| 24 hours | ~1.6% |
3. Criminal Level
Your criminal level is based on your cumulative lifetime laundered total across all records — it never resets, even after arrest. Your level increases by 1 for every $50,000 laundered.
| Level | Cumulative laundered | Tag |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $0 – $49,999 | [C] |
| 2 | $50,000 – $99,999 | [C2] |
| 3 | $100,000 – $149,999 | [C3] |
| N | (N − 1) × $50,000 onwards | [CN] |
4. Treasury Cost
Money deliveries deduct 20% of the laundered payment from the public Treasury Fund. Other illicit cargo types (drugs) do not have a treasury cost.
5. Wanted Status Trigger
Each illicit delivery has a chance of triggering a Wanted status on top of the Criminal Record. The probability scales with delivery value:
| Delivery value | Wanted chance |
|---|---|
| Any amount | 10% minimum (floor) |
| $100,000 or more | 100% (guaranteed) |
| Between $0 and $100,000 | Linearly interpolated |
If a Wanted status is already active, any new delivery refreshes it and adds the payment to the Wanted bounty. See Arrest & Wanted System for full Wanted mechanics.
6. Arrest & Confiscation
When you are arrested, two things happen simultaneously:
- Your Wanted record is expired and the Wanted bounty (
Wanted.amount) is confiscated. - Your Criminal Record is cleared (
[C]tag removed) and the confiscatable amount from the Criminal Record is also confiscated.
The total confiscation is therefore:
Confiscation = Wanted.amount + CriminalRecord.confiscatable_amount
[C] tag.
After arrest
- Your Criminal Record is cleared —
[C]tag is immediately removed - Your criminal laundered total is reduced by the confiscatable amount seized
- The full confiscated sum is paid to the arresting officer as a reward
- A Confiscation record is permanently created, linking the suspect, officer, and amount
- Your next illicit delivery creates a fresh Criminal Record from zero
7. /setwanted Cooldown
After a Wanted status expires (via escape or arrest), police cannot immediately re-target the same player using /setwanted. A 1-hour cooldown applies from the moment the Wanted record expires. The cooldown timer and remaining minutes are shown in the command reply.
